It is goodbye to my beautiful fall arrangements and hello Christmas!
Our front year. The Nandina plants have red berries.
Fall flowers in front yard.
Yes, Virginia, we have autumn colors in California!!!
We were each putting a kernel of corn in a basket and telling of a blessing we were thankful for.
Family and friends around the table were: Jon, Jan and family, Rory, Jess and girls, Joanna and Cody Barker, Anna and Justin Lance, Lance and Danielle Pettit, the Marsden's and children (Anna's family), family friend, Eugene Elliott, Lynn, Jean, Scott and Shawn. Jan's new table built by the Amish came last summer and managed to seat all of us!
It was time to say grace and express our thanks for family and a bountiful feast!
Family and friends went Trick or Treating Halloween night. It was Charlotte's first time. She was so cute trudging along dragging her orange bag and trying to be the first one to knock on doors!!
Joshua reached the rip old age of 12 on August 27th. This was a big day for him because he was ordained a deacon the next day and passed the Sacrament for the first time Sunday September 5th. He took some friends to an arcade in San Jose for his party and invited family members to share cake and ice cream with him on Sunday night.
My Book Club took a trip to Monterey. On the ride down we discussed the book we were reading for this month, Little Heathen. It was a fun book to read . We went to a great used book store in Monterey (Book Haven). Then we went to a fun restaurant recommended by Jana Lance on Alvarado Street (Rosines.) It was everything Jana had promised! They serve fabulous cakes a desserts, so we tasted several as a treat to end our meal.
We had visits this summer from Sally, Jeff and Chris and Cody, Laura, Lance and Danielle, and Lane and Debbie, Jared and Jeremy. So, we celebrated with ice cream parties and barbecues.
We wended our way to Jon and Jan's for a barbecue on the 4th of July. This was our 2nd barbecue that day. Our ward had a big feast at Christmas Hill Park at noon! We watched the City firework display from our ring side sets in the backyard.
June 25th was Justin and Anna's reception in Gilroy. It was held in Jon and Jan's backyard. Justin had his Mom make his groom's cake. The cakes were made to look like Reese's Peanut butter cups!
Justin and Anna executed a beautiful ball-room dance at their reception. They had practice for this occasion! After their first dance the Jonathan Lance family took to the floor and danced for a good 45 minutes! They are a Lance Dancing Machine! Scott took the pictures for the wedding and Lance Pettit did a great job as Master of Ceremonies. The reception was in Stockton, California, where Anna has lived and taught school. Her family lives in Grants Pass Oregon, but she has quite a few relatives in Stockton.
